Genetic Genealogy

Genetic genealogy is the combination of two forms of research using DNA testing and traditional forms of genealogical research in order to prove genetic relationships between individuals and build an accurate family tree.

In recent years the use of DNA tests for genealogical purposes has become both more accessible and affordable, with many people taking them in order to understand their ancestry through their Mitochondrial and Y-Chromosone DNA origins along with linkage to a large number of living relatives open to connection. There are, however, other groups of people who have an even more personal reason for taking a DNA test such as adoptees, foundlings and those with slave ancestry.
